What we monitor

One platform. Four monitoring layers. Every motor-driven asset.

SAM4 monitors motor-driven assets from the electrical cabinet. One sensor per motor covers the full drivetrain. The platform delivers condition alerts, energy efficiency data, performance baselines, and fleet-level operational intelligence.

Scope & boundaries

Where SAM4 applies, and where it doesn't.

SAM4 monitors

  • AC induction motors (any manufacturer)
  • Low voltage (<690V) and medium/high voltage (>690V)
  • Direct online, soft starter, and VFD-driven motors
  • Motors from 1 kW upward
  • Motors operating at as little as 5% of rated load

Current scope boundaries

  • DC motors and servo motors are not supported
  • 2-pole synchronous motors require technical assessment
  • Assets operating less than 10 hours per month lack sufficient data
  • Duty cycles under 5 minutes provide insufficient signal
  • For VFD-driven motors: faults between drive and motor only. Upstream power quality not visible
  • Partial discharge detection not available for MV assets

Asset-specific boundaries are covered on each asset page.

Detection performance

Measured across 1,467 scored incidents.

Recall

95.5%

Recall on confirmed real conditions. 1,372 of 1,437 fault events detected before breakdown.

Post-review false-alert rate

2.1%

30 false alerts across 1,402 customer-facing detected and false-alert outcomes.

Assets monitored

7,000+

Monitored assets across 80+ customers, five continents.

Lead time

4–8 wk

Typical detection lead time before vibration-detectable stage.

Calculated across 1,467 scored incidents on the monitored fleet, 1 May 2025 to 1 May 2026. Reviewed quarterly. Methodology: SAM4 alert issued, field verification by customer or Samotics service engineer, outcome logged.

What our customers say

Michael Horner, Yorkshire Water

"System works very well, support is also very good which is fundamental in making further improvements. Critical in our monitoring of hard to reach assets such as submersible pumps."

DuPont

"At first I was a bit sceptical about SAM4's ability to detect failures by analysing electrical waveforms, but the results speak for themselves: it just works."
